Teaching English

Teaching English

Volunteers are needed to support local teachers to provide theoretical and practical assistance to Primary School children in Ghana.
Volunteers may be leading a class or acting as a teacher's aide, reading literature and teaching maths, most importantly improving low comprehension levels and poor pronunciation. Through this interaction teenagers and teachers participate in an exchange that can often lead to valuable dialogue about different cultures. Also, by working with local teachers you are providing new and innovative ways to teach the English language that they can use with future students for many years, thereby making a long-lasting impact that benefits the entire community.
This is a full time project and Volunteers will be teaching children between 5-10 years old in the primary school or will be teaching junior secondary schools, where the student age ranges between 11 and 16 years old.

The school headmaster will provide teaching resources. You may come with storybooks or any teaching materials you think you might need. Ghana has 3 academic semesters a year: January-March, May-July and September-December
