In this program interested individuals, students, tourists, professionals, organizations, and other groups can give support by contributing funds and materials or by getting involved themselves in construction program, whilst simultaneously touring different areas of Ghana.
When the volunteers first arrive in Ghana they will be giving orientation and later send to the project site (schools /health posts) in rural areas to construct physical infrastructures-- e.g. toilets, libraries, class-rooms, compound walls, water supplies, garden and play-grounds etc. Once the volunteers are stationed, the groups will work there between 7 and 21 days. During weekends volunteers may enjoy sightseeing and some light trekking. We would arrange for volunteering sites, skilled manpower, food and accommodation, logistical support and training, etc. Volunteer will stay and eat with Ghanaian family, where they will have a great opportunity to see and enjoy the Ghanaian life and culture.
Allocation of the Work Camp program fee:
Reconstruction projects require a tremendous amount of materials: cements, rods, sand, and other supplies. Unfortunately, villagers and local community members are unable to fund their own reconstruction projects therefore; nearly all money donated goes directly for the purchase of construction materials.
Donation: We would donate $500 from each volunteer’s program fee paid and the rest covers (see what’s included in the program fee below)
What kind of skills require for this placement: Volunteers do not need to have any skills or knowledge about construction, as they will mainly be doing unskilled work such as digging, mixing sand and cement, carrying rocks, sand and bricks, fetching water, and painting the school buildings. They will be led and work together with local skilled people who will be providing free labour for the betterment of their communities.
