Volunteer Role: Assisting in the Local Hospitals
A volunteer’s role can range from observational to basic assistance, depending on your level of knowledge. You’ll be working with a doctor, spending time in various departments of a busy Hospital. Departments you might be able to visit include Gynaecology, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Surgery. Changing bandages, taking blood pressure and contributing to education about basic prevention are examples of how volunteers engage in this type of placement. An important element of these placements is learning about healthcare practices in different cultures.
